Spaceman and JetX at a glance
Spaceman and JetX are both crash games: a multiplier climbs from 1.00x, and you must cash out before the round ends. If you wait too long, the stake is lost. The two games share that core idea, yet they differ in who built them, in the maths, and in the bet options. This article compares them using only facts that can be checked, and says openly where a detail is uncertain.
Spaceman comes from Pragmatic Play and was released in March 2022. JetX comes from SmartSoft Gaming. This site is independent and is not affiliated with Pragmatic Play or SmartSoft Gaming. It does not take bets, sell predictions or recommend casinos.
Side-by-side comparison
The table below lists what we could confirm. Where a figure is missing, that is deliberate.
| Feature | Spaceman | JetX |
|---|---|---|
| Developer | Pragmatic Play | SmartSoft Gaming |
| RTP (return to player) | 96.5% | 97% |
| House edge | 3.5% | 3.0% |
| Outcome source | Certified RNG | Certified RNG |
| Provably fair | No | No |
| Maximum multiplier | 5,000x | Sources disagree; check the rules screen |
| Bets per round | One main bet, with partial cash-out | Several simultaneous bets (see below) |
| Partial cash-out of one bet | Yes | Not a documented feature |
What we could not pin down
- JetX maximum multiplier. Review pages quote different figures, from a stated 25,000x to "no cap". SmartSoft's own pages we checked do not give a number for JetX, so we do not print one. The rules screen at the casino you use is the authority, and operators may also limit the maximum win per round.
- JetX number of bets. SmartSoft's current JetX page lists up to four simultaneous bets, and the company says operators can offer up to four. Older versions and some third-party pages mention fewer, so the number you see can depend on the version and the operator.
- RTP at your casino. Some games let operators choose from a set of RTP versions. Always read the rules screen of the exact casino and game you open.
What the RTP gap costs
RTP is the long-run share of all stakes returned to players. The house edge is the rest.
- Spaceman: 100% - 96.5% = 3.5% house edge.
- JetX: 100% - 97% = 3.0% house edge.
The gap is 0.5 percentage points. For every 100 units staked in total, the expected loss is:
| Total staked | Spaceman (expected loss) | JetX (expected loss) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 3.50 | 3.00 | 0.50 |
| 1,000 | 35.00 | 30.00 | 5.00 |
| 10,000 | 350.00 | 300.00 | 50.00 |
Two points matter here.
- Total staked, not deposit. If you stake 10 units on each of 100 rounds, you have staked 1,000 units even if your balance never rises above 100. The edge applies to every stake, so fast play adds up.
- Relative size. 3.5 divided by 3.0 is about 1.17, so Spaceman's expected loss per unit staked is roughly 17% higher. That sounds large, but in absolute terms it is half a unit per 100.
These are long-run averages. In a single session, luck can swing results by far more than 0.50 units per 100. A player can win on Spaceman and lose on JetX, and the RTP gap says nothing about which will happen. For more detail on how RTP works, read Spaceman RTP explained.
Differences that matter to a player
Betting options
Spaceman offers one main bet per round, plus the option to cash out part of the bet while the rest stays in play. JetX is built around placing more than one bet at the same time, each with its own cash-out target.
More bet slots do not change the house edge. Each bet faces the same RTP. They do, however, make it easier to stake more money per round, which raises the total staked and therefore the expected loss in absolute terms.
Fairness checks
Neither game is provably fair. There are no seeds or hashes for you to verify. Both rely on RNG certification by independent test labs and on the licence of the casino operator. If provable fairness matters to you, Aviator by Spribe is the one of the three that offers it. See how Spaceman's fairness works for the details.
Maximum win
Spaceman's 5,000x ceiling is a clear number. JetX's ceiling is less clear from public sources, as explained above. Either way, reaching a very high multiplier is extremely rare, and a high cap does not make large wins more likely in any round you play. Also check the maximum win per round in the casino's own terms, because it can be lower than the multiplier suggests.
Pace and interface
Spaceman's single bet and partial cash-out give you fewer decisions per round. JetX's multiple bets give you more decisions at once, which can be harder to manage under time pressure. This is a matter of taste and attention, not of mathematics.
Which one fits which person
There is no objectively better game. Consider your own priorities.
- If you want the lower house edge: JetX, at 97% versus 96.5%, if the casino shows that figure.
- If you want fewer decisions per round: Spaceman's one main bet is simpler to follow.
- If you want to split a stake across several targets: JetX's multi-bet design is made for that, but remember that splitting does not improve the expected return.
- If you care about provable fairness: neither qualifies.
Beginners may find a single bet easier, which is why our beginner's guide to Spaceman starts there. Before any real stake, a free demo (where offered) is the safest way to see how the speed and layout feel.
What does not change
- Every round is independent. Past multipliers do not predict the next one on either game.
- No strategy, bet pattern or cash-out target changes the house edge.
- "Predictors", "signals", "hacks" and bots are scams or simply do not work.
